The Breckenridge Police Department issued a statement Tuesday saying that it responded to the area of Tower Way and Siemers Court in Breckenridge, for a report of gun shots around 3:30 a.m. on Tuesday.

Officers located a light colored SUV in the area and initiated a traffic stop. The driver failed to stop and led officers on a pursuit into Wahpeton. Officers lost sight of the vehicle, but were able to locate it again after it had been abandoned in Wahpeton. Officers recovered a firearm inside the vehicle, but the occupant is still at large.

The vehicle was reported stolen out of Wahpeton.

Officers conducted a search of the area where the gunfire was reported and located one home that had been struck multiple times by gunfire.

The officers were able to make contact with the homeowner, who was the only person present in the home at the time of this incident.

This appears to be an isolated incident, and the homeowner is not believed to be a target.

The Breckenridge Police Department is requesting that if there are any residents along Tower Way, Siemers Court, or Main Street in Breckenridge that have any surveillance footage from between 3 a.m. and 3:30 a.m. to call the Breckenridge Police Department.
