The Wahpeton Senior Babe Ruth baseball team scored 8 runs in the top of the 7th inning Sunday night to beat the Fargo Bombers 11-10 to split an East Division doubleheader in Fargo.

Fargo won the first game 7-4.

Wahpeton is 15-20 overall and 7-11 in the Class A East Division standings.

Wahpeton trailed Fargo 9-3 in the 7th inning if the 2nd game before rallying. A bases-loaded triple by Isaac Loosmore tied the game and Dominick Anderson singled home Loosmore for the go-ahead run.

Wahpeton had 14 hits in the win with Tori Uhlich, Sawyer Malme, Loosmore, Hunter Wamre and Isaac Getz getting 2 each. Loosmore drove in 4 runs.

Uhlich had 2 hits and drove in a run in the 1st game. Wahpeton trailed throughout, pulling within 4-3 in the 6th inning before Fargo scored 3 times in bottom of the inning.

 

Breckenridge beats Pelican Rapids

The Breckenridge Senior Babe Ruth baseball team snapped a 4-game losing skid with a 9-5 win at Pelican Rapids on Friday.

Breckenridge built a 6-0 lead after 2 innings for the win.

Jeremy Stack had 2 hits and scored 3 runs while Braydon Wahl added 2 hits and drove in 2 runs.

Emitt Vig gave up 5 runs on 6 hits over 6 innings for the win with Cooper Yaggie getting the last 3 outs in relief.

Breckenridge is now 6-5 on the season.

 

Berrios will start opener for Twins

All-Star right-hander José Berríos will start the season opener for the Minnesota Twins.

Manager Rocco Baldelli announced the decision on Friday, one week before the Twins play the White Sox in Chicago to begin the 60-game schedule abbreviated by the virus outbreak.

Berríos went 14-8 with a 3.68 ERA and 195 strikeouts in 200 1/3 innings last year, all career bests.
